Week 11 Catchup
Get the cheese ...
Friend of mine just got back from a week-long mindfulness seminar, committed to silence with distance from modernity. Imagine that? I can’t be quiet for seven minutes, let alone seven days—but he asked me to catch him up on the league and figured I’d share…
ROOKIE QB BREAKOUT: Took 10 full weeks of league action for a true statement game from a first-year shot-caller, but here we are. What’s that? J.J. McCarthy? No. Cam Ward? Nope, guess again. Oh, obviously it must be Jaxson Dart. Swing-and-a-miss … strike three, pal. In only his second pro start, New Orleans’ Tyler Shough just boasted the season’s best rookie quarterback start in terms of EPA/attempt (+0.49), passer rating (128.9) and yards/attempt (10.4)—with his 282 passing yards falling just one shy of Dart’s season lead. Plus, they’re on the bye? Can anyone say post-bye-rookie-bump?
BRING OUT THE BIG GUNS: Everyone’s stoked for Jameis Winston to take us off a fantasy helicopter riding a motorcycle. Sounds like fun, except now obvious deep-shot beneficiary Darius Slayton popped up on the injury report with back-to-back DNPs. Where will the already-depleted Giants turn if he’s out? New York’s next leading WR Lil'Jordan Humphrey got cut two weeks ago and scooped up just as fast for a reunion in Denver. And then there was one. The only active player left on the Giants’ roster to actually take a 2-WR personnel snap is sixth-year UDFA out of Bemidji State, Gunner Olszewski. Talk about a deep cut …
OH, MISTER WILSON: An appendix can be a real menace. Just ask Marvin Harrison Jr., who needed his removed out of nowhere this week—costing the Cards’ WR1 at least one week of availability. Michael Wilson has no room left to the upside in terms of usage, already posting a 94% route participation rate versus Seattle. He’s also earned at least 4 targets in six straight games, including a season-high 7 looks from Arizona’s new QB Jacoby Brissett. Could be a trend developing …
Whether we’re talking about a 16% rostership rate in season-long or the $5,800 showdown price in DFS, Wilson’s being entirely undervalued given the circumstances. Injuries rendered this 49ers defense a shell of itself—they’re 29th in both success rate and EPA/dropback this season.
Remember what Dennis always said, “The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.”

About Last Night …
How are those TreVeyon Henderson fantasy teams looking right about now? The New England rookie blew up for a TD hat trick, leading the way for a 27-14 Patriots victory over the Jets on Thursday Night Football. While Hendo was the main attraction, Drake Maye quietly threw for 281 yards as the Patriots QB showed out in his 2025 primetime debut. Now for more highlights …
How do you pick between Hendo’s scores? There’s the pileup-push. The conventional 7-yarder. And the catch to cap the hat trick.
And he had 93 scrimmage yards on 24 touches. Yup, the breakout continues.
Many have been asking for Justin Fields to run more. How’s 11 for 67, plus this one?
Stefon Diggs is making himself very comfortable in Foxborough, 9-105-0.

Your Start/Sit Guide To Week 11
Hat tip to Coach Gene for even more smooth sailing last week as the Skipper, while the highs and lows of my start/sit season more closely resemble his pal, Gilligan.
Start Davis Mills last week for a (292-2-1; 3-20-1) QB3 finish out of nowhere? You’re welcome. Or did you sit Breece Hall—who somehow managed to rack up 125 yards despite the woeful Jets’ totaling just 169? That’s an absurd 74% of the team share by the way! Sorry (sad trombone sound).
Anyway, forward we march …
START: Darius Slayton, WR, NYG
LAGHEZZA: Sometimes it’s OK to incorporate a little fun into the formula. The New York American Football Giants completed their all-out YOLO transition this week, announcing wild card Jameis Winston will get the nod under center for Big Blue on Sunday.
Sure, Green Bay’s far from a soft matchup anytime Rashan Gary and Micah Parsons are trolling the waters. With that, the Pack’s bottom-five blitz (12.2%) and sack (4.4%) rates could give deeper routes time to develop for Jameis downfield—not like he’s going to be intimidated anyway.
Remember, we’re not much more than a calendar year removed from Winston torching secondaries over a six-week span as fantasy’s QB5 in points/game (20.0).
Slayton’s still waiting for his first top-24 weekly finish, but the drought ends Sunday. Plus, if you’ve been watching the Giants lately, Slayton not only hauled in a highlight grab of the season, but he also missed a couple of big plays on ticky-tack penalties. Expect a deep target every single time there’s man coverage on the outside.
SIT: Jacory Croskey-Merritt, RB, WAS
CLEMONS: The “Bill” has come due, and it is time that we pay it. It was a great story when he was introduced to us. A seventh-round pick who had kicked around colleges. He showed so much promise and could further the ridiculous narrative that devalues running backs being taken high in the draft. After all, if you can find backs like Bill in the seventh round, who needs to spend a first?
After Week 1's top-17 PPR performance, everybody was on board. His Week 5, top-5 performance solidified him in many fantasy prognosticators' minds.
Over the next five weeks, however, he has failed to score six points in PPR formats. It is time to turn the page if you have not already done so. He has not proven to be valuable as a pass receiver, and although he has averaged 12.4 carries per game, his 3.01 yards per carry are not very appetizing when he has not found the end zone. Maybe there is a new Bill in the future, but it is time for an amendment right now in the nation's capital.

Late-Week Waiver Wire Help
The final four weeks of the fantasy football regular season are here. The season always goes by too fast, but the good news is that we still have the most exciting stretch ahead of us. The performances that win fantasy championships are some of the most memorable aspects of the NFL season, and that is what we are going to experience over the next two months.
Hopefully your team is already in playoff position and starting to plan ahead for Weeks 15-17. But if not, don't worry, we have you covered with all the waiver advice, start/sit projections and rankings to help you finish the season strong.
Now, what players could you add late in the week to bolster those championship odds? …
Luther Burden, WR, Chicago Bears—8% rostered
DJ Moore suffered a shoulder injury in Week 10, which led to a season-high route participation for Luther Burden. We don't know whether or not Moore will be available in Week 11, but if he misses the game or is expected to have a reduced role, I like the upside that Burden provides.
Not only do I think Burden is a talented player who can capitalize if given a larger role, I also think his role as a lower aDOT receiver who plays from the slot nearly 40% of the time could be a good fit for this matchup against the blitz-happy Minnesota Vikings defense. Caleb Williams may be forced to get the ball out quickly on a regular basis in this game, which aligns with the types of routes that Burden and Olamide Zaccheaus will be running.
Admittedly, Zaccheaus will probably project for more points in Week 11, but I like adding Burden because of his upside for the rest of the season if we see a breakout performance. As a highly drafted rookie, Burden is expected to be a big part of the Bears' future plans, so his role should grow over the course of the season, but Moore's injury may fast-track that process.
