Forget about the holidays. We know that fantasy football draft season is “the most wonderful time of the year.” Ssssh, don’t tell the family.

You get to put your stamp on your roster with the players you select. Your draft strategy will tell the story. So many people are talking about going RB-heavy in the early rounds to lock in their studs. Well, that’s going to leave some sweet options at wide receiver like Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb and Amon-Ra St. Brown who are too hard to pass up. If you’re into tight ends, but don’t want to pay the Round 2 price tag on Brock Bowers and Trey McBride, can we talk you into George Kittle almost 90 picks later? And don’t get us started on elite quarterback strategy when we can wait to get Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff well after pick 100. They’re both projected for well over 4,000 passing yards and 30 TDs. Not bad consolations late in drafts.

Drafting From The 1.03: Starting Out Wide

Last time we talked about a mock draft at the 1.02, we described Bijan Robinson as the consolation prize. He’s not. Now that we’re moving over a spot we’re looking to attack a whole new position. And staring at us are players who leave no one feeling like they were wishing for those first two picks. This being a mock draft on our Draft Champion by lifelong Bengals fan Chris Allen, going to Ja’Marr Chase was as predictable as sunrise. But who can blame him? Even though Puka Nacua and Jaxon Smith-Njigba are coming of stellar years, Chase has been consistently going at the 1.03 in drafts, so Chris is not being a homer.

Now that the “easy” part is over, there’s the rest of the draft. When to take a running back and how many? When is the right time to dip into the QB waters? Which Round 2 RB Should We Target?

OK, you made your first pick and you’re feeling great. Maybe you got one of the stud RBs at the top, or you had to pick between Puka Nacua and Jaxon Smith-Njigba a few picks later. Or maybe you snagged James Cook at the turn. No matter what, when the second round rolls around there is going to be a tough decision. Like, really tough.
