The Team Stealing Headlines

Sorry SEA/NE ...

I know we have lots of Super Bowl angles to discuss over the next 10 days, but the Buffalo Bills continue to exude “main character” energy.

The organization was melting down after their Divisional Round loss to the Broncos, but surely they would turn things around quickly with a progressive coaching hire who would usher in a new era of winning … right?

Wrong.

In a very puzzling move, the team decided yesterday to keep things in-house and promote OC Joe Brady to Head Coach.

Um, what?

So let me get this straight …

Last week, Bills owner Terry Pegula said he fired Sean McDermott because the team continually hit a “playoff wall” and decided the best way to get over said wall was to promote the OC, who was also responsible for not getting over the wall?

The logic is not logic-ing for me.

At this point, the Bills’ plan for 2026 (and onward) is basically

1) Hit on a WR in either free agency or the draft (ideally both)
2) Don’t be as unlucky in the playoffs
3) Pray?

Doesn’t seem like a fool-proof plan to me, but I’m just a guy on the internet who likes drafting fantasy teams, so what do I know?

Speaking of which, Dwain just dropped a very early “My Guys” article for 2026 drafts, and one Bills pass catcher does make the list …

Previewing The Hot 2026 Fantasy Football Topics

Super Bowl LX is around the corner and before we know it, we'll be prepping for the 2026 fantasy football season. With that in mind and so many moving parts around the coaching carousel, upcoming free agency and more, we gathered our band of experts to hit on some of the biggest topics heading into the 2026 offseason and what it means for the fantasy season ...

» Where should Ashton Jeanty be drafted in fantasy next year? (He’s early-second round on Underdog right now)

IAN: It’s always tough to determine how well a running back is performing independent of their surroundings, but Jeanty did at least perform admirably in yards after contact (3.1, 20th) and especially tackles avoided (22.9%, sixth) per carry. He passed the eye test, but was it really to the extent to already conclude this is one of the league’s best overall talents at the position?

Reminder: Jeanty finished as Next-Gen Stats’ 10th-worst RB in rushing yards over expected per carry. He flashed as a receiver at times, although it’s still tough to exactly call that a major strength with average-to-below-average advanced metrics as a pass catcher.

Does Jeanty deserve to be an early-round fantasy pick? Sure! But simply chalking him up as a smash pick in early Round 2 because he did great things at Boise State two years ago seems curious. The Raiders have a LOT to fix in order to not (again) resemble a weekly dumpster fire. If we believe the touch ceilings to be close, should Jeanty really be going ahead of guys like Saquon Barkley, Omarion Hampton, Chase Brown, Josh Jacobs and Bucky Irving, who have all proven more at the professional level and exist inside far superior NFL offenses? I don’t believe he does.

FREEDMAN: As of writing, we don't know who will be the HC or OC for the Raiders in 2026. But I expect—with QB Fernando Mendoza as the presumed No. 1 pick—the offense at least won't be worse than it was in 2025. Similarly, Jeanty likely won't be worse this year, and in all probability, he will be better in his second season.

And while I was down on him in 2025 fantasy drafts, it's not as if Jeanty had a bad overall campaign. On the league's worst team, he had 1,321 total yards and 10 TDs on 266 carries and 73 targets. And in six games after former OC Chip Kelly's dismissal, he was the No. 5 RB in Utilization Score (85). Not bad.

The early second round makes sense to me. It's appropriately aggressive. He's a prime breakout candidate.

The Best and Worst Offensive Braintrusts of the NFL

There are going to be several new NFL head coaches in 2026, and there will be even more new offensive coordinators in place as teams jockey for play callers that can help them become more prolific on the offensive side of the ball. When it comes to the players we love and believe in for fantasy, sometimes it matters who the offensive coordinator is, and other times, who the OC is doesn't move the needle—we are going to take the players early and often, regardless of the play caller.

Ultimately, the type of offense being run can shed light on some other players who may find more value in one system as opposed to others. Let's take a look at these offensive rankings and the coordinators that are powering them.

The Elite

LA Rams (Mike LaFleur)

There’s a level of continuity that the Rams enjoy that no other team in the NFL can claim. Because everything starts with their head coach, Sean McVay, as the play caller. All of the offensive weapons understand the mission. They have two elite receivers, two high-quality running backs and several tight ends that they are not afraid to put on the field at the same time. Most importantly, they have a quarterback who (while he is long in the tooth) is as sharp as they come when given time, and should enter the offseason program relatively healthy with an MVP trophy in hand. McVay and Mike LaFleur make a great tandem as an offensive braintrust that needs to manage all of these weapons. They will be just as formidable in 2026 if everything returns to place.

Dallas Cowboys (Klayton Adams)

The Cowboys have potentially one of the scariest offenses in all of the NFL. We all know that Dak Prescott is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and he once again showed that in 2025 with his performance. Their offensive strength is built on several key offensive weapons. First is CeeDee Lamb, who remains one of the best receivers in the league. He is flanked by George Pickens, who is set to garner a major payday this offseason. They also possess a high-quality rushing attack, regardless of who the running back is and a tight end in Jake Ferguson who can be a top-five receiving option at the position whenever necessary. Offensive coordinator Klayton Adams is a great fit with his running background to complement Brian Schottenheimer and what he wants his offense to look like. With these pieces in place, this team is once again poised to put up major points in the NFL.
