Because no one wants to play “Joe Fagnano” (I sincerely apologize for continuing to put your name in scare quotes, Joe, but I can’t help myself) or “Gardner Minshew” (there, I made it fair), let’s pinpoint two viable streaming options for Week 9:
Dolphins QB Malik Willis (available in 80+% of leagues)
Don’t look now, but the Miami offense is starting to wake up over the last three games (23.7 PPG, 62.7 plays/game), and Willis is averaging 20.8 PPG over that stretch.
Best of all—he gets a juicy matchup this week vs. the Lions, who give up the biggest fantasy boost to opposing QBs (+6.6):
He might not be just a one-week rental, either. The next three matchups:
IND (+1.5)
BUF (+1.7)
NYJ (+0.8)
Seahawks QB Sam Darnold (available in 50+% of leagues)
In more shallow leagues, though, I definitely would scoop up Darnold.
He gets the second-best matchup for all QBs vs. a hapless Cardinals defense, who is almost as bad as the Lions vs. signal-callers:
The only concern here is that they smash (11.5-point home favorites) and don’t have to throw a ton.
But even if they establish the run in the second half, I think Darnold will cook enough early to help the streamers out there.
