Moves To Boost Your Title Odds
Looking more than one week ahead ...
The Colts trade for Sauce Gardner earlier this week brings to mind an all-time classic trade when the Raiders acquired Mike Haynes in the middle of the 1983 season.
Getting Haynes, a Hall of Fame cornerback, gave the Raiders the best CB tandem in the NFL. It was the last puzzle piece that the Silver and Black needed to win Super Bowl XVIII, and it happened because Al Davis, as always, was relentless in upgrading his team.
You don’t need Davis’ famed tunnel vision to win a fantasy league or go to the lengths that Christian Bale did to portray him in the upcoming film “Madden,” but it sure helps if you are continually finding ways to upgrade your squad …

So, what are the best moves to make right now to help your club’s title chances? Let’s break these down by category.
Trade away players who are likely to underperform. Brian Thomas Jr. should be a name at or near the top of that list. My analysis of the Gardner trade illustrates that Thomas will face Sauce twice in the last four weeks of the fantasy season. That’s not a situation you want to rely upon when pursuing a fantasy football title, so consider trading BTJ for someone who has better matchup prospects.
Stack players who are trending upward. The must-read weekly Utilization Report had some great suggestions here for Week 10. This report shows that you will want to get proverbial shares of stock in Kyle Monangai, Alec Pierce and Colston Loveland.
Add as much quality roster depth as possible. Devin Singletary is a perfect example of this. He’s got a path to Week 10 value due to his increased utilization in Week 9. This could garner enough work for Singletary to remain a viable fill-in option down the stretch.
Always look ahead more than one week. This is why you should be picking up Trey Benson. He’s been out since Week 5 with a knee injury. He may return in Week 10. Even if it takes a week or two longer than that for his return, Benson could very well claim a lead back work volume once he is reactivated. That’s terrific late-season value for a running back who is available in 40-50% of most leagues.
Don’t shy away from dropping underperforming players. These duds can crush your fantasy score in a heartbeat. Gladys Louise Tyler can help you with her Week 10 players to drop. This list includes Tua Tagovailoa, Alvin Kamara and Matthew Golden.
Trade for players with great playoff schedules. It’s never too early to plan ahead for the postseason if you’ve got a team that’s likely to get there. Green Bay players rank at the top of the playoff acquisition list because the Packers face three powerhouse offenses to close out the fantasy season—Denver, Chicago and Baltimore. That could lead to many high-scoring games that you want your fantasy team to be a part of.
Also consider adding Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson since New England has plus rush defense matchups in Weeks 15-17.
Use your FAAB dollars wisely, especially in Guillotine Leagues™. Paul Charchian has you covered here with his weekly review of chopped players and how much you should bid on them. One of his most intriguing suggestions for this week is San Francisco RB Brian Robinson. Charch recommends bidding $5 on Robinson because “CMC feels like a time bomb, considering his massive usage.”
The Vanicream TRUST-O-METER: JT, Gibbs & Bijan
OK, look … we don’t know what happened with some of the biggest fantasy stars last week. Jonathan Taylor, 12 carries for 45 yards. Jahmyr Gibbs was held to 25 yards. Bijan Robinson, just 46 rushing yards. We’re scratching our heads, too. Can you trust them to bounce back to their previous greatness? That’s at least an 8 on The Vanicream TRUST-O-METER. Maybe a 9. And if this were the Vanicream UPSIDE-O-METER? Easy 10.
And hey, if you don’t know who Vanicream is—besides being fantasy fans, they’re the #1 Dermatologist Recommended Brand for Sensitive Skin. Celebrating their 50th year, their products were developed with one goal—to create something for people with sensitive skin. The ingredients make all the difference, and Vanicream’s most important ingredient—that’s trust! (thus the TRUST-O-METER!). If you want to give them a try, your skin will thank you.

About Last Night …
For every Bears-Bengals slugfest, there are even more games like the Raiders-Broncos NFC West rock fight that ended in a 10-7 Denver win. The teams combined for 408 scrimmage yards and neither QB passed for even 140 yards. Thankfully, there are a few highlights.
Broncos throwback unis were an early highlight.
Ashton Jeanty looking like the king we were promised. He was the high scorer on the night.
High hopes for Brock Bowers early on.
Donald would approve of this Duck connection.

Your Start/Sit Guide To Week 10
It's Week 10, not to say that start/sit decisions didn’t matter as much before, but let’s get serious. For some the next five weeks could decide whether they make the fantasy playoffs or they spend the cold offseason stewing over bad calls. We won’t have that happen for you.
Let’s get into Gene Clemons’ and John Laghezza’s starts and sits …
START: David Montgomery, RB, DET
LAGHEZZA: It’s been a while since Detroit’s once-vaunted two-headed backfield regularly projected both RBs in the top 12. Sure, Jahmyr Gibbs still lays claim to ‘must-start’, but it’s safe to say David Montgomery has fallen off significantly in fantasy production. Since the Lions’ 38-point Week 3 eruption created that reminiscent pair of top-5 RBs, Montgomery is fantasy’s RB37 and hardly startable. Until now.
Queue up Motor City’s second chair with confidence once more this week in the Nation’s Capital—Washington’s in free-fall mode on both sides of the football. While Frankie Luvu’s hip-drop suspension may have gotten overturned, the secondary is in complete disarray. Marshon Lattimore’s off to the IR (knee), one of three regular starters exiting Week 9’s tilt in Seattle (Trey Amos, Quan Martin).
Washington couldn’t afford to get any worse on defense either—only the Bengals’ laughable D ranks lower in yards/game (410.0), success rate (48.3%) and EPA/play (-0.20) this month. Doesn’t bode well against Detroit, which will likely close out the week as double-digit favorites right before mauling the tailspinning Commanders. All Lions’ RBs get fed on Sunday.
SIT: Brian Thomas Jr., WR, JAX
CLEMONS: This has nothing to do with the presence of Jakobi Meyers; it has everything to do with Brian Thomas, Trevor Lawrence, the Jaguars offense and most importantly, the Houston Texans.
The Texans have an elite pass rush, which will definitely make life harder for Lawrence in the pocket. They also boast two high-level coverage corners. There is a symmetry issue in this Jaguars passing offense. It has not been right all season. We have seen glimmers of hope for their connection, but nothing consistent. They have also shown that they are not afraid to get the ball to other receivers in the offense. Last week, Dyami Brown and Parker Washington both had more targets than Thomas; before the break, it was Travis Hunter and Washington with more targets than Thomas. This could be another week like those.

Late-Week Waiver Wire Help
There are just five weeks remaining until the fantasy playoffs start in most leagues. This is the time when good fantasy managers can really separate themselves by balancing the need to continue stacking wins while also positioning their roster for a playoff run.
Heading into Week 10, Jonathan Fuller has a new group of late-week waiver adds who are available in more than 50% of leagues. This list features a mix of guys who you can start if you are dealing with bye weeks and injuries, as well as a few deep-league stashes to pick up before they become the headliner of waiver wire articles in future weeks.
First man up? …
Devin Singletary, RB, New York Giants - 16% rostered
The Giants' backfield was a much more even split than I expected following Cam Skattebo's injury. Tyrone Tracy Jr. has the edge in the passing game, but Devin Singletary actually handled more of the rushing work in Week 9.
Despite missing his two best playmakers, Jaxson Dart continues to find ways to move the ball, which creates opportunities for the skill position players to accumulate fantasy points. Although this offense isn't as exciting as it could have been, it doesn't look like the floor is going to fall out either.
There were no carries inside the 5-yard line for either Singletary or Tracy in Week 9, but Singletary has handled more of the short-distance work since Skattebo went down, which makes me think he will get the first crack at goal-line carries when they are available.
I don't love the idea of starting Singletary in Week 10, but if you are desperate and just looking for someone who should see more than just a couple of touches, he is your best bet.
