It's Cutting Season
June cut candidates with fantasy upside
June 1 is upon us, and summer is almost here, which means it’s officially cutting season.
Put the tank top away, Pete. We’re talking about NFL roster cuts, not your summer physique …
With roster cutdowns on the horizon, a looming A.J. Brown trade and OTA standouts left and right, we’re bound to see some roster shakeups over the next few weeks.
This, in turn, will have a ripple effect in fantasy football, so let’s take a quick look at a trio of players who could be released and find themselves in more favorable fantasy football situations if things break right.
Alvin Kamara | RB | NO
There’s been a lot of discourse around Kamara’s future with the Saints, including some vague, uninspiring quotes from the front office. And after bringing in Travis Etienne in free agency, the outlook on Kamara’s role in the Saints’ offense has gotten bleaker after a disappointing 2025.
lKamara has played his entire career in New Orleans and has expressed that loyalty, so it’s hard to see an organization reverse course like this. Even so, if Kamara were to get cut, he could provide a short-term boost to ambiguous backfields like the Packers (with the latest on Josh Jacobs) as a team in position to contend in the NFC, and would provide immediate fantasy football value if he were cut and landed in a starting RB role elsewhere.
Brandon Aiyuk | WR | SF
Easily the most obvious cut candidate, Brandon Aiyuk has instilled virtually zero confidence in his supporters this offseason. Still, despite the tumultuous last couple of years with the Niners, Aiyuk has flashed elite upside, posting at a 21% targets-per-route-run rate in 2023 and 2024 with a WR10 finish in PPR formats in 2023.
The obvious landing spot would be a reunion with his collegiate QB Jayden Daniels in Washington, where he would step into a healthy amount of targets alongside Terry McLaurin. Aiyuk is a scary buy in fantasy land right now, given how nonchalant he’s seemingly been about football lately, but the upside is certainly there if things break right.
Tank Dell | WR | HOU
One cut candidate that could fly under the radar is Texans WR Tank Dell. After a promising rookie season—47 receptions, 709 yards, 7 TD in 11 games—Dell missed three games in 2024 and the entirety of 2025 with a devastating leg injury. In the meantime, the Texans have loaded up on ancillary receivers to support Nico Collins, drafting both Jaylin Noel and Jayden Higgins in the 2025 draft.
Dell has yet to participate in OTAs as he continues to rehab, and the Texans could save over $3.6M in cap space with only $284,382 of dead cap if they were to cut him post-June 1. There may not be a lot of chatter about this as a potential cut, but giving Dell a fresh start elsewhere could also kickstart his fantasy football value if he’s able to get back on the field early in the 2026 season. He remains someone I am stashing where I can in dynasty formats.
And, speaking of OTAs, there have been several standouts to pay attention to …

🏈 One of the top NFC West contenders for the Seahawks. The offense is golden.
💪 Don’t be afraid to pick up veterans in dynasty. Old guys rule.
🦁 The TE7 may be a bargain, because of a high-powered offense.
🍀 Some leaguemates may call it lucky. You’ll know better.
⭐️ This QB is projected to be top 5 in passing yards and TDs. Put a star next to his name.
🛠️ This RB has so many tools. Doesn’t look like a Day 3 pick.
👀 Keep tabs on the Konami Code QBs. Remember this Fab 5.
This Bill Is Coming Due
Ah, we remember the training camp hype of 2025, when Jacory Croskey-Merritt was going to remind people of Clinton Portis 2004. Bill came up a bit short, do you think? Now we’re looking at a crowded backfield with Rachaad White possibly working in on passing downs and rookie Kaytron Allen looking for any opportunity behind them.
The dreaded possibility of an RB committee relegates Bill to appearing in this week’s ADP Risers and Fallers feature, where Adam Pfeifer looks at players who are on the move in Underdog best ball drafts over the past week.
Seahawks Preview: Loaded for a Repeat Run
Let’s remember for a second that a year ago the over/under win total for the Seahawks was 8.5. Some may say they outperformed that number by, like, A LOT. We’ll leave out who might have predicted that they were going to go under that total. What Ian Hartitz is doing here is launching his annual Team Preview series with the Super Bowl champs, with quick and fun sidebar features on skill position players and their fantasy outlook for the coming season. Ian starts with an overview of the roster:
While key contributors like OC Klint Kubiak, RB Kenneth Walker, EDGE Boya Mafe and S Coby Bryant will be missed, Sam Darnold should still have plenty of firepower on offense after the front office managed to bring back Rashid Shaheed in free agency and used their first-round pick on Notre Dame RB Jadarian Price.
Throw in a pair of top-100 draft pick additions to the secondary, and this (again) looks like one of the more complete rosters in football. ⤵️
