I'm Scared Of The "Elite" QBs

Here's why ...

There’s chaos and shakeups every year, but I’m having a hard time remembering another offseason where so much was in flux with the QB position as far as fantasy goes.

Consider these top four options, courtesy of Ian’s Way-too-early 2026 ranks and my pessimistic spin on them …

  1. Josh Allen—Allen certainly still deserves to be QB1 because of the rushing ceiling, but it certainly doesn’t feel great paying a premium for a guy whose No. 2 WR in the playoffs was Brandin Cooks.

  2. Drake Maye—Maye is coming off a four-game playoff stretch where he didn’t clear 20 fantasy points in a single game and looked completely out of his element in the Super Bowl.

  3. Lamar Jackson—Lamar finished 17th overall in PPG (16.3) this year.

  4. Joe Burrow—Played only eight games in 2025 and finished as the QB13 in PPG.

I’m not even suggesting that these are wrong or trying to play Devil’s advocate, I’m more so just trying to illustrate how many legitimate question marks there are at the top end of the QB position heading into 2026.

It doesn’t stop there, either. Jayden Daniels (coming off injury), Caleb Williams/Jaxson Dart (young guys who have flashed, but still unproven), Jalen Hurts (struggled as a passer in 2025) and Patrick Mahomes (might not even be ready for start of the season after ACL surgery).

There is still a long way to go this offseason—and free agency and the NFL Draft will reshape how we think about many of these signal callers—but it’s tempting to already call 2026 a great year for Late Round QB.

Guys like Trevor Lawrence, Brock Purdy, Bo Nix and Jordan Love all strike me as awesome cost-adjusted bets relative to the premium guys listed above.

Dynasty Rookie Mock Draft: Who to Love After 1.01?

Here we are, just weeks away from the NFL Draft Combine. NFL Mock Drafts have been happening for weeks—check out Freedman’s latest—though it’s getting time to see how these rookies might stack up from a Dynasty perspective. Sam Wallace and Jake Trowbridge took turns performing a mock draft of the first round for a single-QB league, which was heavy on wide receivers and runnings backs. The 1.01 might be too easy to figure out for this format, so we’re looking at who Jake took at 1.03.

1.03 - Makai Lemon, WR

Jake: A few weeks ago, someone in our Fantasy Life Discord asked me which incoming rookie receiver I was highest on. My answer was the same then as it is now: Makai Lemon. I don’t think even a rough combine showing or an iffy landing spot would move him off the top of the heap for me.

He’s not a flashy prospect. Lemon won consistently at USC with squeaky-clean routes and hands so soft we have to assume he sleeps in lotion-filled gloves. Every NFL offense can use a guy like him. To put it simply, Lemon … ahem … has the juice.

New Orleans Saints Team Needs: More WRs, Please

Looking at the end of the Saints’ 2025 season, there is cause for hope down in New Orleans. The Saints finished the season 4-1. with rookie QB Tyler Shough surpassing 250 passings yards four times, passing for 5 TDs and rushing for 3 more. Though there could be some new faces in the WR room for the Saints other than Chris Olave, as Ian Hartitz notes in his team needs for New Orleans:

Olave is a baller, shot-caller, and fully deserves to be treated as a legit high-end No. 1 wide receiver following his breakout 2025.

  • Receiving yards: 1,163 (7th)

  • Receiving touchdowns: 9 (tied for 6th)

  • Yards per route run: 1.99 (19th)

  • Targets per route run: 26.7% (9th)

  • ESPN open rating: 81 (6th)

Devaughn Vele also did some good things down the stretch, but more firepower is needed after sending Rashid Shaheed to Seattle at the trade deadline. While a deserved long-term extension for Olave could change things, the Saints presently have the league's 12th-cheapest group of wide receivers entering 2026.

What else do the Saints need to do build around Shough and Olave to improve their chances in the winnable NFC South? Ian breaks it down. ⤵️
