How To Navigate The QB Chaos

Week 8 news...

Bye-Mageddon dominated the headlines early in the week, but the true disaster in Week 8 is the QB apocalypse we are dealing with.

Below are the QBs who will be out in Week 8, along with their replacements:

Tyrod Taylor (knee) > Justin Fields (QB15). Just a few days after their owner threw Fields under the bus for not being able to complete a pass (tough, but fair), the Jets now awkwardly must return to their ex. As you can tell by our consensus ranks—QB15—he’s the best streaming option of the new starters. The Bengals give up the third-biggest fantasy boost to opposing QBs, and he’ll have Breece Hall and Mason Taylor to assist.

Michael Penix (knee) > Kirk Cousins (QB17). Apparently, the Falcons had Week 8 circled when they decided to hold Cousins hostage in Atlanta this year. He’ll get the start vs. a reeling Dolphins squad today. Even with the long layoff, I don’t think he’s a huge downgrade for the offense. Check the Watercooler down below for more Falcons passing game propaganda (🚁).

Jayden Daniels (hamstring) > Marcus Mariota (QB18). We hit on this one earlier this week, but you could do worse than streaming Mariota. He has a much tougher matchup than Fields vs. KC—the Commanders are 11-point road dogs—but the rushing upside is similar (and he has better weapons with both Deebo Samuel and Terry McLaurin back in the lineup).

Lamar Jackson (hamstring) > Tyler Huntley (QB24). There was some funny business going on with how the Ravens reported Lamar’s practice status on Friday, but that’s the league’s problem now. Our problem is now dealing with Huntley this week. The total has dropped from 50 to 45, but I still wouldn’t shy away from playing Derrick Henry and Zay Flowers today.

Bryce Young (ankle) > Andy Dalton (QB25). Hopefully, you don’t need to turn to Dalton, but this isn’t the worst thing in the world for Tetairoa McMillan. His Utilization significantly dropped in Week 7, so hopefully the Red Rifle can kickstart TMac.

Your fantasy lineup isn’t the only thing worth managing.

Week 8 Cheat Sheet: Will James Cook Have Room to Run?

James Cook is definitely one of the best all-around backs in the NFL, but of late he hasn’t seen the targets that he usually gets. And against Carolina in Week 8, that might be a problem because the Panthers have been formidable against the run. Not so much against pass-catching RBs, though. Will Cook be able to cook in the Bills’ pass game?
