šŸ¬ The Dolphins Go NUCLEAR (70 Points?!)

What a performance...

Buffalo Wild Wings

Odds Donna Kelce gets referenced in the inevitable breakup album? Iā€™ll set it at +150ā€¦

In todayā€™s Fantasy Life Newsletter presented by Buffalo Wild Wings:

  • A record-breaking fantasy performance

  • Peteā€™s Weekly Wrap-Up: The veterans show out

  • QUICK HITTER: A must-bet player prop for MNF!

  • Taylor Swift at Arrowhead

  • Overreaction Monday: Whatā€™s up with the Jags?

  • Itā€™s 9/25. Take it away, Peter Overzetā€¦

Thank God for the Miami Dolphins.

If it werenā€™t for them, Iā€™d be forced to lead todayā€™s newsletter with Travis Kelce/Taylor Swift Page 6 fodder (donā€™t worry, Iā€™ll capitulate in a few paragraphs and cover it in the Weekly Wrap-Up).

Instead, we get to gush over a performance for the ages by the Miami Dolphins, who became the second team ever to record 700+ total yards of offense:

  • 70 points

  • 726 yards of offense

  • 10 TDs

They played the Denver Broncos, who are reportedly a real NFL franchise, but youā€™d never know it by the box score. The Dolphins ran laps around a hapless defense as if they were the Harlem Globetrotters playing the Washington Generals.

You know things are bad when the artist formerly known as Robby Anderson (who changed his name to Robbie Anderson, and then later to Chosen Anderson, and now goes by the name Robbie Chosen), who also happens to be on his third team in less than a year, scores a TD on your swinging fence of a defense.

But letā€™s set aside body-bagging the Denver Broncos for one second to appreciate what an earth-scorching fantasy performance we witnessed yesterday, headlined by the backfield:

  • Tua Tagovailoa: 309 yards and 4 TDs

  • Devon Achane: 222 yards and 4 TDs

  • Raheem Mostert: 142 yards and 4 TDs

  • Tyreek Hill: 157 yards and 1 TD

Did we mention they did all of this without their second-best player?!

They wonā€™t come close to replicating this performance again (they only get to play the Broncos once, after all), but this team will continue to churn out fantasy gold for as long as Tua is healthy.

Fins up.

Peter is here to share his six big takeaways from Week 3. Take it away, Pete...

āš”ļø Keenan & Big Mike explode

We knew this was a blow-up spot and yet it was still surprising to see the 31-year-old Keenan Allen drop an absurd 215 yards on 18 receptions. Heā€™s now the only player in NFL history to have three games with at least 15 catches.

Mike Williams chipped in a respectable 7-121-1 line of his own (including a TD from Keenan!), although he suffered what appears to be a very serious leg injury. Weā€™ll know more after his MRI today, but itā€™s time to start making contingency plans.

šŸ’„ Kenneth Walker goes boom

One of the criticisms of Walker heading into the season was that he was a ā€œboom/bustā€ runner. Hereā€™s the thingā€¦we like ā€œboomsā€ in fantasy, which is exactly what Walker provided in Week 3 vs. Carolina.

Walker tallied 18-97-2 on the ground and 3-59 through the air while collecting a pair of broken ankles as a souvenir.

Zach Charbonnet isnā€™t going anywhere, but Walker is too talented to keep off the field for more than the occasional breather.

šŸš€ The new TE1 contender

The current TE1 on the week isnā€™t Travis Kelce (7-69-1), but the Lionā€™s Sam LaPorta, who went 8-84-1 on an impressive 11 targets. There arenā€™t many TEs in the league who can get this wide-open deep down the field.

This start puts him in uncharted territory for rookie TEs:

I wondered if calling him a Top 5 TE going forward was a spicy take, but then I saw this tweet from Dwain. Giddyup.

šŸ§“ Adam Thielen did what??

Look, Iā€™m sure thereā€™s some damning evidence of me calling Thielen ā€œdustyā€ or ā€œwashedā€ or ā€œa prime candidate for the senior citizenā€™s discount at the Sizzlerā€ somewhere on the internet, but the joke is clearly on me:

I truly donā€™t know if he can keep this upā€”Larry Fitzgerald had a string of fast starts that fizzled out in the final seasons of his storied careerā€”but for now, letā€™s tip our cap to the man who isnā€™t waiting until November 5th to turn back the clock.

šŸ¤Ŗ The Browns stay alive

I called it a ā€œmake-or-breakā€ week for the struggling Browns yesterday, and they did just enough in their 27-3 win over the Titans for us to keep a small candle on for their fantasy relevance the rest of the year.

Deshaun Watson was serviceable (289 yards and 2 TDs), but Amari Cooper kept Week 3ā€™s ā€œfountain of youthā€ theme going with a 7-116-1 line that could have been even bigger.

šŸŽ‰ Tank Dell joins the Puka conversation

The NFL is so good at humbling everyone. First-round WRs like Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Quentin Johnston, and Jordan Addison are off to slow starts while Puka Nacua, and now Tank Dell, are setting the league on fire:

If for some reason Dellā€”who is now the No. 10 scoring fantasy WR this seasonā€”is still available on your waiver wire, empty the clip.

šŸ“£ FREE MARVIN MIMS. This is getting absurd.

šŸ¤ How am I going to explain to my children what Taylor yelled at the game? Shameful.

šŸ“ŗ INSTANT reactions for every Week 3 game. Ian and Dwain are doing the Lordā€™s work.

šŸ˜” The Jets are in shambles. And fighting with each other.

āœļø Double the Monday Night Football action? That just means double the DFS fun.

šŸ”® I bet you canā€™t guess who is the MVP favorite right now? Told ya.

šŸ“‰ Regression comes for us all. Including the Vikings.

šŸ™€ Most passing yards in first 3 career games. A surprise rookie QB makes the list.

šŸ¤£ Wait, who returned a kickoff for a TD? Get it together, Jags.

šŸ¦· Our petsā€™ heads are falling off! Our teeth are falling out!

overreaction monday 2023s season

We're humans who play fantasy football, which means we are prone to overreact. Today, Kendall overreacts to two teams headed in opposite directionsā€¦

Week 3 in the NFL is the time when trends start to become reality. Ian Hartitz wrote an incredible article on it, and letā€™s just say we learned a lot on Sunday.

First, this Packers team just does not quit ā€” Jordan Love led the Packers to a huge comeback win after trailing 17-0 at halftime and got his first win at Lambeau Field.

The New England Patriots outlasted the New York Jets and Bill Belichick and Co. now have 15 straight wins over the Jets, tying the longest current winning streak against one team.

Oh yeah, and Taylor Swift made an appearance at Arrowhead Stadium, LOL.

Thereā€™s one team that showed they are one of the best in the NFL right now and another that should be making fantasy managers a bit worried. Letā€™s get into itā€¦

šŸ¬ Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill are the best duo in the NFL (on the best team)

LET TUA TAGOVAILOA COOK! Damn, he did just that on Sunday. No, 70 was not the temperature in Miami today, itā€™s how many points the Dolphins hung on the Broncos. Tagovailoa finished the day 23/26 with 309 yards, four touchdowns and a passer rating of 155.8! Holy crap.

Tyreek Hill was flying (somewhat) solo with Jaylen Waddle ruled out with a concussion before the game started. He finished the day with 9 receptions, 157 yards and one touchdown.

Letā€™s be clear here: this is the best duo in the NFL right now.

The connection looked too easy from the very beginning of this game. Entering Week 3, Hill had 59.50 fantasy points on the year with Tagovailoa at 39.40. This duo only got stronger, too.

This was also the most points scored in Miami Dolphins history. I hope you didnā€™t have any of these players on your benchā€¦ Raheem Mostert and Deā€™Von Achane had four touchdowns apiece and even backup quarterback Mike White wanted to get in on the action.

This is arguably the best team in the NFL right now. Definitely the most explosive. They are the only undefeated team in the AFC and have a big test coming in Week 4 against the Buffalo Bills. Letā€™s see Tagovailoa and Co. add an exclamation mark to this hot start and go 4-0ā€¦

šŸ¤¢ The Jaguars areā€¦ bad?

Remember when this was supposed to be a get-right game for the Jacksonville Jaguars? Well, the Houston Texans walked away winners and left Jaguars fans, fantasy managers and everyone in between with even more questions and worries.

The Texans had eight starters out with injury, but the Jaguars looked flat on offense from the beginning. Trevor Lawrence threw for 279 yards and connected on a touchdown to Christian Kirk while Travis Etienne totaled 138 yards, but it wasnā€™t enough.

Honestly, shoutout to rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, though. He had 280 passing yards with two touchdowns and a 118.8 passer rating. There is still enough time to say things can turn around, but the Jaguars need to fix things quickly.
