Age Is Just A Number

Aging Quarterbacks are not fading away.

Time is a flat circle. Age is just a number. And we've got a lot of old-head QBs ready to play ball in 2026.

With the QB-needy teams around the league this offseason, it begs the question: Is field experience worth its weight in gold for the QB position in 2026?

PSA: I'm older than two of the QBs mentioned, so I'm free to call them old heads. Them’s the rules.

Derek Carr (34)

Remember Derek Carr's surprise retirement party last May? Well, surprise … again! He's "seriously considering" un-retirement now.

Only two years into his four-year contract with the Saints, Carr walked away from the game with an injury in 2025. But with his newfound health, he's open to play again for the right team (read: winning teams—Sorry, Jets).

Remember, Carr walked away from $30 million at the time of his surprise retirement due to multiple shoulder injuries that threatened his ability to play had he stuck around through the remainder of his contract. But the Saints do still control Carr's contractual rights. Considering they've found their future at QB in Tyler "Shough Em" Shough, New Orleans would essentially receive a free draft pick for Carr.

Kirk Cousins (37)

This kind of feels like one of those Facebook marketplace deals, doesn't it? "Hey, everyone. I'll be dropping off a gently used Kirk Cousins in the Kohl's parking lot on March 11 at 8 a.m. First-come, first-served."

However this saga ends, I just hope Cousins can find a team to treat him right. Kirk originally left Minnesota with dreams of a long-term starting gig in Atlanta back in 2024, but that ended abruptly. After signing with the team, Cousins had less than 45 days to live out his dream before watching Atlanta draft QB Michael Penix Jr. with its first-round pick.

Check your calendars. In just a few days, we'll find out which teams show up to collect at Kohl's.

Aaron Rodgers (42)

Aaron Rodgers is turning into that uncle who always grumbles about wanting to finally retire and live his days out on the golf course. But when the time comes, there's always an excuse for why the company couldn't possibly go on without him.

While Rodgers is still undecided on his future retirement date, the Steelers have said that both parties want to answer the question sooner rather than later.

Will he retire? Will he stay with the Steelers? Or will Rodgers somehow find his way to his fourth team in five years?

If history repeats itself, we won't know anything for quite some time.

Geno Smith (35)

It's all but a lock that the Raiders take Indiana's Fernando Mendoza with the first overall pick in the draft. But Klint Kubiak hasn't ruled out a future for Geno Smith in Las Vegas just yet.

It would cost the team $26.5 million to keep Smith rostered, which is a lot considering he tied for 21st in the league in passing TDs and 20th in passing yards in 2025. But it would make sense for the Raiders to keep a veteran around before throwing Mendoza into the NFL gauntlet

Though … Dare I say the Raiders might find a better deal on a veteran QB, considering all the old-heads that are in play this offseason.

The big boys are running at the NFL Scouting Combine today. Catch up on this awesome content before the ground starts shaking …

Is Josh Allen really just alone at the top among his fellow QBs? Matthew Freedman created tiers for the signal-callers, though it’s a little lonely for Allen.

Some may worry about RBs coming off major workloads. Ian Hartitz attacked this question when dividing up the running backs into tiers.

Dumpster Diving For Dynasty Value

If you're actively reading dynasty fantasy football articles during this portion of the offseason, you are a true degenerate. Welcome; let me pull up a chair for you. There are always things you can be doing to improve your roster's future outlook, and February is the perfect time for some good old-fashioned dumpster diving.

Jake and Sam each highlight a pair of players who might be lingering on the waiver wire in your dynasty league, depending on the size of your rosters. Each is valued outside of the top-300 overall players by general consensus ...

Savion Williams | WR | Packers

Jake: With Romeo Doubs likely to leave in free agency, there will be the usual (and deluded) calls for the Packers to trade for a superstar like A.J. Brown or sign a trusty veteran like Mike Evans. But the team has too many other needs and not enough money for that kind of pipe dream.

If everyone stays healthy, Green Bay will lean on a solid trio of Christian Watson, Jayden Reed and Matthew Golden (to be fair … yeah, that’s a big time “if”). And that’s in addition to the increasingly studly Tucker Kraft.

With all that potential firepower, why in the hell am I recommending you add Savion Williams to your dynasty roster?? It’s mostly because the third-round pick has a pretty sneaky path to playing time. See, in his final year at TCU, Williams racked up 51 rushing attempts and another 60 receptions, accumulating just under a thousand scrimmage yards. In limited pro action last year, Williams actually saw more rushing attempts than targets. And there, my friends, is our glimmer of hope for fantasy relevance.

Josh Jacobs has garnered the second-most touches of any running back since 2020 and looked downright zapped last season. If he’s truly wearing down, we could see a Ty Montgomery-esque sophomore season out of Williams in 2026. Not only would that drastically boost his dynasty trade value, but it would set him up nicely for 2027 when Watson, Reed and Dontayvion Wicks’ contracts are all set to wrap up.

And Some Trade Targets For Good Measure …

While we have your attention turned to your dynasty rosters, let’s parlay some of those value players you’re targeting with some more players you should be paying attention to in trade talks …

Ricky Pearsall | WR | 49ers

Currently valued as a low-end WR3 with a legitimate path to be his team's No. 1 wideout next season? There's a very real chance we are vastly underestimating the value of Ricky Pearsall.

First, let's take stock of the current pass catchers in San Francisco. Jauan Jennings is a free agent, and Brandon Aiyuk has likely played his last snap for the team. In addition, George Kittle will likely miss time next season as he works his way back from injury, which really just leaves us with Pearsall.

Is having Pearsall as a top-24 receiver in the first edition of my 2026 ranks aggressive? Yes, but we're also talking fantasy ranks in … February … so let's have a little bit of an open mind here!

Injuries have unfortunately robbed us as a society of seeing Pearsall operate at full health for any level of extended stretch during his short two-year career. And yet, one quick look at the #film reveals that we are truly looking at one of the league's top-tier route tacticians here.

The team will likely add help to the wideout room in some fashion, either through the draft or free agency, but as the presumptive remaining veteran on the team, it appears as though the job is Pearsall's to lose.
