5 Big Winners From Week 5

They did it ...

Imagine if you told your league that you were looking to trade Marvin Harrison Jr. right now—they’d definitely laugh at you.

Well played, Arizona.

Here are the other highlights from yesterday …

The Giants and Commanders tied, but we got fantasy points. The national media will jam the “tie” storyline down our throats (and yes, Washington’s clock management was egregious), but don’t get distracted from the fact that Jayden Daniels is very much back (QB2 on the week, 32.3 fp) and Jameis Winston continues to feed the guys we care about, Malik Nabers (23.6 fp) and Isaiah Likely (26.9 fp).

Drake Maye got his mojo back. It was a dark start to the season for Maye and the Patriots, but he’s now rattled off back-to-back QB1 finishes, including yesterday’s 39.5 fantasy point explosion vs. the Raiders (s/o DeMario Douglas with the 4-65-2 line).

The “game of the week” was the game of the week. Arizona and Detroit combined for 66 points and Jared Goff and Jacoby Brissett currently sit as the QB3 and QB4 on the week. Jahmyr Gibbs did his thing, ofc (35.2 fp) and Jameson Williams found the end zone twice. My lone complaint? What the hell is a ‘Teagan Quitoriano’ and why did he have 2 TDs?

Mike Evans pulled the coldest move I’ve ever seen. Not only did the Niners get the best of the Seahawks yesterday, but Evans had himself a day. Sure, the boxscore was nice (7-113-1), but it was this hilariously disrespectful troll of Trevon Diggs that stole the show. The GIF from this moment will be used frequently, methinks.

Two league-winning WRs keep it rolling. I spent the whole summer saying I refused to take Parker Washington over Christian Watson. Apparently the answer was both. PWash lit it up in England—including this absurd TD catch—while Watson ran wild in the Bears secondary. Watson currently sits as WR2 on the year, PWash at WR7.

How About Some Peace Of Mind?

There’s a peace of mind that comes with knowing you have certain players on your fantasy roster. That Joe Burrow-Ja’Marr Chase stack is just so sweet. See Bijan Robinson in that RB1 slot, you can just write him down for 100+ scrimmage yards and a couple TDs. And Trey McBride, just chalk him up for 10+ targets and elite WR numbers out of the TE slot.

Peace of mind is also important when it comes to your home, family and connected life. Introducing Xfinity Shield, a defensive line for your home and devices. Users can opt-in to built-in WiFi protection features such as:

Early Week 6 Waiver Wire: Time For Rookie WRs?

Opportunity may be calling for some rookie WRs in fantasy football. Take Germie Bernard. The Alabama product had a few older players ahead of him on the pecking order for Aaron Rodgers’ attention, but then injuries started opening up some targets. In Week 5, Rodgers looked the rookie’s way a team-high 9 times, as Bernard turned 6 catches into 80 yards. Sign of things to come?

Bernard was one of two rookies featured by Alex Cupps in this week’s early waiver wire feature. There are plenty more options, as more teams are going to be on bye in Week 6. ⤵️

Week 5 Winners/Losers: Worry About Maye No More

Turns out, we shouldn’t have have been concerned about Drake Make after all. The Patriots QB gave us a scare there for the first 3 games, but has come back with a vengeance the past couple weeks. After posting a QB1 finish last week, he bombarded the Raiders to the tune of 39.5 fantasy points in a 45-17 thrashing of the visitors. Apparently the reports of his fantasy demise were greatly exaggerated.
