3 WRs Falling In Drafts

Should you buy the dip?

If you are a sicko drafting fantasy teams right now like me, it’s important to keep tabs on the market. We always want to get the best price on players—whether that means targeting players who are expected to rise or fading players who are about to fall.

There are currently three WRs who are about to get much cheaper in drafts due to injury and suspension concerns. Ultimately, missing a few games at the beginning of the year isn’t a huge concern—the fantasy playoffs are what we really care about—but we need to be patient if we want to get the best price.

Here’s my game plan for doing so …

⚖️ WR Jordan Addison (ADP: 62.2)—Addison’s trial for his DUI last summer has officially been set for July 15. If convicted or if an NFL process triggers it, he could be facing a baseline three-game suspension, per the league’s substance-abuse policy.

Action item: Addison is a lock to slide if/when a suspension is delivered. Pass on him for now—Jauan Jennings, Chris Godwin, and Jerry Jeudy are strong picks going after him—but be prepared to buy the dip when he inevitably slides to the end of Round 6 (especially if you are fading his teammate, Justin Jefferson, like Matthew Freedman boldly shares below).

🚑️ WR Brandon Aiyuk (ADP: 84.4)—Kyle Shanahan recently said that he expects Aiyuk to open up the season on the PUP list as he continues to recover from the torn ACL and MCL he suffered in Week 7 last season. That would mean a minimum of four games missed at the top of the season.

Action item: Aiyuk is a lock to get cheaper when this news becomes solidified. For now, pass on him for guys like Josh Downs, Emeka Egbuka, and Jayden Higgins, but then be ready to buy the dip as he slips closer to pick 100.

Bonus: Jennings and George Kittle are screaming buys right now.

🚑️ WR Luther Burden (ADP 107.7)—The Bears rookie suffered a soft-tissue injury during minicamp and has missed all offseason workouts since. The team is insistent that he’ll be ready for minicamp, but offseason injuries are particularly scary for rookies who need the reps.

Action item: Burden is one of my most drafted players right now. He offers significant upside at his current price and should remain a target despite the risks. The reward is simply too great for his talent/situation to pass at these prices.

The Power of Pessimism

Last week, Matthew Freedman went team-by-team, highlighting one player from each that he wants to draft. This week, he’s focusing on the opposite …

“I believe that most fantasy players—and humans in general—benefit most by focusing on the negative: That which they should avoid.

If you want to stay alive, what's more beneficial?

  • Knowing where there's gold.

  • Knowing where there are landmines.

The answer is apparent.

Years ago, I wrote about the importance of strong inference, and I still believe that "falsification" (aka, "the scientific method") is just as crucial in winning fantasy as it is in creating knowledge.

In fantasy, you can get pretty far—to the playoffs for sure, and sometimes all the way to a championship—merely by avoiding the guys who underperform expectations.”

So, who is Freedman fading in 2025 at their current ADPs? Take a seat, because you won’t want to be standing …

Why on Earth is he significantly lower on these players than the market? Only one way to find out …

T-Law, BTJ, Hunter, and Coen Looking To Give Duuvaall Much To Yell About

The optimism is growing in Jacksonville, even after Liam Coen’s awkward, oft-replayed introductory “Duuuuuvaaaal!” launched about a million memes. After the magic he made with Baker Mayfield in Tampa last season, Jags fans are hoping that his coaching will have the same impact on Trevor Lawrence. Then the excitement went to 11 when they traded up for Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter. With these additions/improvements, could Jacksonville dance to the top of the AFC South?

Ian Hartitz went on the prowl to preview the Jaguars, zeroing in on if a Lawrence uprising could raise start wideout Brian Thomas Jr.’s play to another level and prop up Hunter to live up to his massive billing. The muddled backfield will get some projection, and he casts the spotlight on a TE who could be an early-season waiver wire dandy. Let’s go to “Duuuuuuuvaaaaaaal!”⬇️
