3 RB/WR Duos Broke The Slate

And more injuries ...

Like so many Sundays, yesterday was filled with massive fantasy performances—some surprising, others not so much—as well as another batch of frustrating injuries.

If you didn’t park yourself in front of RedZone for seven hours straight yesterday, here’s what you missed …

Cowboys, Rams & Panthers duos pop off

Kyren Williams (16-8-2, 10-67) and Puka Nacua (9-125, 1 rushing TD) smashed in a come-from-behind win vs. the broken Philadelphia Eagles.

Similarly, Javonte Williams (19-62-3; 5-21) and CeeDee Lamb (17-189-1) led the Cowboys to a 34-30 victory over the Texans. Nico Collins (7-118-2) did his best to keep Houston in the game, but their defense had no answers for Dallas.

Then on SNF, Chuba Hubbard (20-122-2) and Tetairoa McMillan (14-192-2) went wild in a surprise victory over the Lions.

Kenneth Walker is a madman

KWIII tattooed the Raiders for 177 rushing yards and 2 TDs. He’s now averaging 27.5 PPR PPG and neck-and-neck with Jahmyr Gibbs for highest-scoring fantasy player on the year. Fun fact: he has more TDs through four weeks this season (6) than he did all of last regular season (5).

Week 4’s (painful) surprises

Not all of the Week 4 smash performances came from the household names, though. Take for instance:

  • Kyle Monangai (27.5 fp) - Ben Johnson rode the hot hand vs. the Jets and that led to 30 Monangai carries to 15 for D’Andre Swift. He did come away with a thumb injury, though.

  • Tyquan Thornton (25.6 fp) - Thornton carved up the Raiders all game, but suffered a brutal ankle injury with only a few minutes left. I would assume he’s done for the year.

  • Emanuel Wilson (25.5 fp) - With Jadarian Price on IR, Wilson dominated the backfield touches (21-81-1; 3-39-1). Zach Charbonnet and Joe Mixon (??) loom …

Injury roundup

It was another brutal day for injuries. Here are some of the big ones (and some Week 5 waiver ideas to start mulling):

  • Saquon Barkley (hamstring) > Tank Bigsby (14-55) and Will Shipley (6-23)

  • Ja’Marr Chase (concussion) > Dohnte Meyers (7-82)

  • Rashee Rice (hamstring) & Thornton > Cyrus Allen

  • Ladd McConkey (foot) > Tre Harris (3-60)

  • DJ Moore (shoulder) > Keon Coleman (6-116-1)

  • Lamar Jackson (ankle)

Early Week 5 Waiver Wire: Target Keon Coleman

Remember in the old days when wide receivers waited until Year 3 to break out? Yeah, that was an annoying waiting game, and we’re grateful for those who’ve done their breaking out in their rookie seasons of late. But there is the occasional player who pops when so many might have already given up on the player. We might be seeing that with Keon Coleman.

After a couple up-and-down seasons—filled with plenty of healthy inactives—Coleman has seen more time on the field this season, and against the Patriots with DJ Moore leaving early with a shoulder injury, the 2024 second-round pick of the Bills went for 7-116-1. For that, Alex Cupps made Coleman one of the headliners of his early waiver wire column. ⤵️

Winners/Losers From Week 4: Monangai Takes the Plunge

Sometimes, actually, often times super stardom in the NFL starts with a teammate getting hurt or even making a mistake. Look at Kyle Monangai’s monster Week 4 effort. He was splitting carries with teammate D’Andre Swift like normal, until Swift put the ball on the ground with a fumble. He was banished to the bench for the remainder of the afternoon, and that opened the door for MJonangai.

After 30 carries for 146 yards and a pair of scores, Monangai was one of the clear winners in Week 4. Who were the others? And who were the losers? ⤵️
