3 Fantasy Hot Takes From A Fresh Face
Meet Cupps ...
I have a confession to make.
For the past four months, I’ve been moonlighting as a host and producer for a fantasy football reality show competition called So You Think You Can Tout.
I received 135 initial applications from people hoping to become the next great fantasy analyst. After four months of challenges, we recently whittled down the competition to a sole champion, who won cash prizes and a paid gig (relax, it’s not Bijan money) doing a show with me.
Incredibly, the powers that be at Fantasy Life were in lockstep with me because they also hired the winner—Alex Cupps—to join the squad as a contributor.
Matthew Berry broke the news to him in a very cool moment.
But I’m not here to recap the show—you can binge watch the nine episodes here—but instead I want to ensure you check out Alex’s debut article on the site: Three Things Touts Are Getting Wrong In 2026 Fantasy Football.
It’s no surprise that I found myself nodding along with all three of his key takeaways …
The Jaguars WR room is a trap. The Parker Washington drum beat is becoming louder by the day, but there is a real chance that they all cannibalize one another. I’m with Alex in wanting to play it through the two cheapest options—Jakobi Meyers and Travis Hunter.
Josh Allen’s ADP is too expensive relative to the next tier of QBs. He shares some compelling 2v2s on why passing on Allen is likely optimal in 2026 drafts.
Veteran WRs are being significantly underpriced. Cupps reminds us that in each of the last four seasons at least one 30+-year-old WR has finished as a top-12 fantasy option. He shares five candidates who could fit this bill in 2026 …
But, of course, I’m not spilling those names here.
Everyone knows the No. 1 rule of being a great tout is getting the click … which is what you’ll need to do if you want to know which veteran is going to be a red-zone monster in 2026.
Draft Strategy
Forget about the holidays. We know that fantasy football draft season is “the most wonderful time of the year.” Ssssh, don’t tell the family.
You get to put your stamp on your roster with the players you select. Your draft strategy will tell the story. So many people are talking about going RB-heavy in the early rounds to lock in their studs. Well, that’s going to leave some sweet options at wide receiver like Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb and Amon-Ra St. Brown who are too hard to pass up. If you’re into tight ends, but don’t want to pay the Round 2 price tag on Brock Bowers and Trey McBride, can we talk you into George Kittle almost 90 picks later? And don’t get us started on elite quarterback strategy when we can wait to get Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff well after pick 100. They’re both projected for well over 4,000 passing yards and 30 TDs. Not bad consolations late in drafts.

Drafting From The 1.07: Targeting an RB1
Thanks to our community over on Reddit, Chris Allen got a request to do one of the mock drafts in his fantastic draft-postion series using standard scoring. People still play standard? Yes, and more than the PPR hive mind would have you believe. And the standard bearers don’t want change. Trust us, we’ve tried. And what our Draft Champion reaffirmed is that standard scoring just drives up the need/desperation for running backs early and often.
An added bonus is that this feature includes a further breakdown on what makes up an RB1 beyond fantasy points. What factors are so important? And how did they converge to come to the conclusion of the draft pick he ended up making at 1.07? ⤵️
Jaxson Dart vs. Trevor Lawrence: Who’s Your Starter?
Two of the QBs who are getting a fair amount of attention in the lead-up to fantasy football draft season are Jaxson Dart and Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence is the former No. 1 overall pick who has flashed some seasons, and had forgettable moments in others. Dart is the first-round pick out of Ole Miss who won the starting job during his rookie season. He experienced a few highs of his own, though one too many trips to the medical tent put his reckless running style under scrutiny. Our ADP and fantasy football rankings have them nearby each other.
John Supowitz took on this debate, focusing on the two quarterbacks’ different playing styles and what would make him pick one over the other. Does Dart’s dual-threat ability supersede Lawrence’s prowess in the pocket with just enough rushing upside? You be the judge. ⤵️
Who’s Rising and Falling in Guillotine LeaguesTM?
The Hall of Fame Game is almost here, and it’s time to see if any of the action can have an impact on your upcoming Guillotine LeaguesTM drafts. Marcas Grant and Tipp Major are back to talk about the players they’re keeping an eye on in the game. More importantly, they check in on current ADP and if there are players they’re targeting over others because of the 18-team Guillotine format.
