With almost a month of football under our belt, we are still experiencing Utilization surprises after a full week of action.

Here are three that stood out to me from Dwain McFarland’s must-read Week 4 Utilization Report.

💥 SMASH: Jeremiyah Love arrived in Week 3

Even the most level-headed Love drafters thought it would take some time for him to wrestle away the backfield from Tyler Allgeier, so his Week 3 performance provided a pleasant surprise:

If Week 3 is the new normal and his Utilization score stays in this range, Dwain notes that the historical comps are fantastic: 18.4 PPG. And 63% delivered top-6 seasons. Even better? He gets the Giants and Lions over the next two weeks—two juicy matchups for RBs.

🤷 SHRUG: Cam Skattebo got his superpower back?

Devin Singletary was a healthy scratch in Week 3, which allowed Skattebo to reclaim the coveted pass-catching role:

The only reason I’m shrugging is because there is a lot of downside risk for the offense with some combination of Jameis Winston and J.J. McCarthy at the helm.

If I could flip him for someone like Bucky Irving or Chuba Hubbard, I personally would strongly consider it.

😱 SCARY: Omarion Hampton Hampton is quietly in trouble

Not only does the Chargers offense look abysmal (they rank 28th in red zone drives and 31st in scoring-drive rate), but Hampton’s role is dwindling.

He played a season-low 42% of the snaps and it wasn’t just game script—he split time in every quarter with Keaton Mitchell and Kimani Vidal. Mitchell, FWIW, looks much more explosive and Hampton’s subpar explosive rush rate (8%) confirms it.

The entire thesis of the Hampton play was the rising tide of the McDaniel offense, but instead Hampton managers are underwater on their second-round pick.

You can’t sell low now, but cross your fingers for a TD soon so you can shop him around.
